Young Cathedral
When will a dependence racket the young cathedral?
While traveling in Germany I visited Ulm, the birthplace of my great-great grandmother. The city is 73 km/45 miles southeast of Stuttgart on A8, the autobahn link to Munich. Piercing the sky is the tallest church in the world, the Ulm Cathedral. Having visited many cathedrals in Europe, I could not imagine the terror and exhilaration ahead.
The gothic structure took 500 years to build, completed in 1890. The spire is 143 meters/469 feet above the city, rising like a jagged spear into the Bavarian sky. There are no elevators. 768 steps await you.
